about

Someone once asked me if the snare on this song was real after seing a video of me with a robotic/solenoid/automatic drum stick playing a snare drum. I made the solenoid stick much later than recording this song - the snare was completely synthesized from modular equipment and not acoustic in any way.

lyrics

I never heard you sounding so loud
If I could see you then I might have believed
Taken for granted; sugar and air
I become numb to what I could have been like
Most of us actors trying to breathe
In between silhouettes and partial disease
Try to imagine how it would be
If I could only hear you and couldn’t see.

Written and Produced by Jon Sonnenberg (BMI)
Modular drums, many sounds on Monopoly and Polybox, which were fairly new to me at the time of this recording.
